Representing complex systems using modelling

The figure shows a representation of a mostly hierarchical system. This may represent say, the intended functionality of a system. Real systems are rarely this straightforward. Other elements and attributes of a system, such as: behaviour and modelling dependability will often have the effect of making a represented system unreliable, uncertain and ultimately non-representative.
