Encouraging public transport

The university's transportation strategy aims to reduce car use by staff, students and visitors and encourage more sustainable modes of travel by:

  • restricting vehicular access to the site whilst improving pedestrian routes;
  • reducing on-site car parking and continuing to increase the price of parking permits;
  • the development of secure bicycle storage and biker changing facilities;
  • the siting of student accomodation within easy walking distance or on good public transport routes;
  • negotiating of concessionary fares for students and staff on public transport.

Most of these measures are in the process of implementation.
